Kellen & Kalin
Manzano Mountain Retreat | Albuquerque Wedding Photographers | November
Some weddings you walk away from and think, that's exactly what it's supposed to feel like.
Kellen and Kalin's day was one of those.
Tucked up in the mountains at Manzano Mountain Retreat, with snow quietly blanketing the ground and the kind of cold that makes everything feel more alive — it was a November wedding that felt like it was made for exactly that setting. Nothing forced, nothing overdone. Just two people who love each other, surrounded by the people who love them most, in one of the most beautiful places New Mexico has to offer.
These two met in high school — and if you know, you know. There's something different about people who grew up alongside each other before they ever knew what they were building. By the time they said their vows, it wasn't a leap of faith. It was more like finally saying out loud what had always been true.
They both work in education now, which somehow fits them perfectly. There's a warmth to them, a patience, a way of being present with the people around them that you just notice. You could feel it in the room all day.
What stands out most when we think back on this wedding is how easy it was.
And we mean that in the BEST possible way.
There was no stress. No one frantically checking a timeline or running around putting out fires. Kellen and Kalin set a tone from the start — we're here, we're happy, let's just enjoy this — and it rippled through every single person there. Their guests were relaxed. Their wedding party was laughing. Everyone was just... present.
That's rarer than you'd think. And it makes our job feel less like work and more like getting to witness something real.
The venue itself deserves its own moment. Manzano Mountain Retreat is the kind of place that does half the work for you — the owners are genuinely kind, helpful, and invested in making every couple's day feel special. The setting is stunning in any season, but in November, with the mountains showing off and snow on the ground, it felt like something out of a dream. Cozy and grand at the same time.
We love getting to capture weddings like this one. Not because everything was picture-perfect (though it was, honestly), but because you could feel how much it meant. The quiet moments between the two of them. The way their people showed up for them. The mountain air and the snow and the light that only comes in November.
Kellen and Kalin — thank you for letting us be part of your day. It's one we'll carry with us.
